Eltham Bowling Club is one of Eltham’s most cost effective venues, both in terms of hiring costs, and bar prices. Our spacious and modern clubrooms, along with our newly constructed and renovated deck, are a great place to hold almost any function. Above all else, Eltham Bowling Club is a great place to relax and enjoy with your family, friends, and colleagues.
Cost is only from $150 to $350.
Our hall can be hired out for:
- Birthday parties (generally for any age EXCEPT TEENAGE)
- Engagement parties
- Wedding receptions
- Trivia nights
- Fundraising events
- Corporate days
- Christmas functions
Generally most bookings are from 7.30pm-12 midnight, however some bookings are taken for daytime depending on club events. The greens may also be hired for barefoot bowls at a small additional cost.
We are also happy to receive enquiries regarding regular hall hire for either not-for-profit community groups as well as businesses wishing to conduct classes, workshops, seminars etc. Please contact the Hall Hire Officer, Pam, for availability and special regular hall hire rates. Early bookings are recommended.
We recommend you download a copy of our Conditions of Hall Hire before agreeing to hire the club. This document outlines the costs involved, as well as the responsibilities of the hirer to ensure a safe and fun evening is had. This document can be downloaded here.
The hall hire charges are as follows:
- Not For Profit Community Groups: $150.00
- Juvenile Daytime Party Hire: $200.00
- Wakes: $250.00
- All other hires: $350.00
Further cost reductions are available for regular hirers (weekly, fortnightly etc.) – contact the Hall Hire Officer for rates.
In addition to this, a $300 bond is required, which is returnable on the hall being left clean, tidy and with no damage being done to the premises. Most groups choose to clean the premises themselves directly after an event, however professional cleaners are available at a cost of $100, payable to the club.
An additional levy of $22 is collected by the club on behalf of Nillumbik Council, to cover the cost of Public Liability Insurance. Community groups who already hold public liability insurance do not need to pay this levy.
NOTE: We accept payments for Hall Hire in either cash or via Electronic Funds Transfer cleared 7 days prior to booking.
A number of options are available for entertainment.
A sound system can be hired from the club for $50. This sound system allows for music to be played from portable music devices via USB and Bluetooth, as well as playing CD’s.
Hirers do have the option of using professional entertainment providers, however these providers must have public liability insurance before being permitted to perform on club premises. Proof of this insurance must be provided to the club.
Alternatively, hirers can provide their own sound system.
The hall can seat approximately 120 people with further seating available on the outdoor decking area. The Club also has a large dance floor.
Our seating consists of 14 rectangular tables for 8 persons, 2 rectangular tables for 6, and a number of smaller tables that seat 4 each.
The club has a limited liquor licence. Due to our licensing regulations we cannot allow alcohol to be brought onto the premises. Hall hirers will be asked for their assistance in enforcing this policy.
All drinks can be purchased directly from the bar at much better than hotel prices, ranging from $5.50 for a light beer to $8.50 for a pre-mixed can. There is also soft drink and water available. EFTPOS or cash is available for bar purchases. The current price list can be downloaded here.
Our licence covers us until 12 Midnight. All club volunteers who serve in the bar have undertaken the Responsible Serving of Alcohol training courses. We currently have about 30 trained volunteers.
Safe Transport Policy
Bar staff shall encourage members and visitors to make alternate safe transport arrangements if they are considered to exceed .05 blood alcohol concentration.
Taxi numbers are clearly displayed in the club rooms. Landline telephone calls will be made free of charge to arrange a taxi or other transport.
Decorating & setting up times are to be organised with the Hall Hire Officer. We allow you to decorate the hall yourself but it must be taken down after the function.
There is off-street parking available with disabled parking and entry into the Club.
The hall has a large modern kitchen. You can do your own catering or use a caterer provided they have public liability insurance cover.
Smoking is permitted only in the designated smoking area, at the barbecue end of the balcony, from the end rail to the nearest clubroom doorway.
